Landscape Report October 2016
SPOA LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE REPORT
SPOA MEETING OCTOBER 28, 2016 The patch on upper Westgate is not out for the bid because we are not sure if we have the funds to complete the work. Thanks to Naomi McGinn, Terri Diets and Bill Jovick for putting the plan together. The new plantings on Hillcrest are looking good. They will look better. The Hillcrest gates were painted and the area planted thanks to Con and Julie. We are waiting for a surveyor for a report on Hillcrest. We will get a bid for stump removal for the trees removed on the small island on Atlas Peak when we have the funds. FUTURE Rocks will fill in the buffer areas that are not planted on Westgate. We will include rock on the small area on Hillcrest adjacent to Madrid's. The islands on Hillcrest near St. Andrews will be fixed up - not totally redone as it looks in good shape. Water leak is a continuing problem. When the soil is tilled and a few plants added and mulch (bark) put down, that island should be fine for the near future. Small islands off St. Andrews will be re-done as money permits. The project will start with Pinehurst and then Merion Circle. The landscape committee will not need an architect for these projects. We hope to have a pile of funds in the near future to tackle the big island on Hillcrest and then the huge island on Westgate. Respectfully submitted, THE LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE Nancy Pollacek Landscape Committee Report
SPOA July 29, 2016 Because Julie and the Landscape Committee have basically the same report, Julie said the Committee should report first and she will fill in. The 22 islands have been neglected for many years, so we are making a start on "the fix". There is a limited budget and the county has most of the decision making authority.
